Certificate Night and Final Night

The last two club nights in the year are dedicated to celebrating the members successes. As there were so many, we had to distribute the event to two nights since last year, the first one is for displaying all entries to the end-of-year (EoY) competitions and the awarded honours images. Certificates for the awarded honours images are handed out that evening. We had a total of 92 honours images!

Among the honours images there was one image selected to be the champion image per competition. The EoY competitions are:

Field Trip
C Grade Unseen
Monochrome
Portrait
Landscape
Open
Natural History
Photojournalism

So we had 16 champion images selected (8 digital projected images, 8 prints), but they were only revealed at the final night one week later, to keep the tension. In addition to the EoY competitions, we also had the Highland Trophy competition images on show, also leaving the announcement of the winner to the next week.

The final night then revealed the champions, grade advancements and Cup/Trophy winners. We had a total of 32 Cups/Trophies to award to the successful club members. 16 are from the EoY competitions, and then we have a number of additional trophies for e.g. accumulated points during the year or special achievements.

First time this year we also had a competition for the new A+ Grade, for which A Grade members had to fulfill a number of requirements and had to present a portfolio of 8 images (digital or print). The 4 successful A+ grade members for the next year 2020 are

Nadine Campbell
Frithjof Moritzen LPSNZ
Tracey Perrin
Rosemary Simpson

And congratulations to all members who participated in the various competitions throughout the year! You all deserve a pat on the back, and with every image you enter you put a bit of yourselve out there for all to see and for judges to assess. A special thank you goes out to the judges who spent their free time (a lot of it!) to assess our images and give their opinion! Also a big “Thank You!” to the committee and President who work tirelessly in the background to keep the club running smoothly.

Well done all!

We have now a break until first Tuesday of February 2020, so time to think about your plans for the next year.

Merry Christmas and a happy new Year!
